Time-Lapse Images Show Aurora Form, Dissipate Over Midwest

Images taken near Erie, Pennsylvania, show the arrival, brilliance and eventual subsiding of a “geomagnetic substorm,” also known as the northern lights. The aurora formed as a result of the near-Earth passage of an ejection from the sun.
